My background in the electrical business
I started my career in the electrical industry by completing a five year electrical apprenticeship within my father’s electrical contracting company. During that five years I got to work in all aspects of the industry carrying out full and part rewires on domestic premises, working on large commercial and agricultural sites gaining all the core knowledge and experience required.
After the completion of my apprenticeship I joined a small electrical contracting company who carried out domestic rewires, fuse board changes, lighting rewires, electric showers, and wiring heating systems in the social housing sector of Birmingham, getting to run my own jobs and assist with the onsite supervision I gained both confidence and experience.
I moved on from there to become an electrical maintenance engineer for the Dudley group of hospitals carrying out electrical break downs and pre-preventive maintenance on everything from the light fittings, water heaters, fire alarms, and nurse calls to the industrial ovens and ventilation systems.
I was then invited to join an air pneumatics company contracting to the large supermarkets, wiring, commissioning and giving staff training on their pod systems covering the whole of the UK. I then went on to work for a management facilities company partnered with Birmingham city council working my way up from Electrical Supervisor to Electrical Site Manager. Working on a number of different and sometimes high profile projects, working closely with clients and tenants to achieve high quality work within the budget and time restraints given.
After gaining 15 years of amazing experiences I decided in May 2012 it was time set up my own electrical business and have gone from strength to strength gaining more and more satisfied customers every day, specializing in both domestic and commercial wiring, offering competitive prices and providing a first class standard of both work and customer service, C.Hollyhead Electrical boasts an excellent reputation.
Since 2012, as well as running my own electrical business in the Brierley Hill area, and now Wolverhampton, I have also had the fantastic opportunity to pass on my knowledge and experience to others while teaching the electrical workshop classes for the level 2 students and the test & inspection classes for the level 3 students, part time at the local college. Another part of my role within the college is to carry out the end of year practical assessments for both second and third year classes.
